Bob Corbett AMS®, is the founder and Principal Marine Surveyor with CanMar Marine Surveyors Ltd. He holds the status of: Accredited Marine Surveyor AMS® (SAMS®) in the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS®); Is a member in good standing with the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC); Is a Boat US Approved Marine Surveyor; Has completed a program of professional development in Boat Fire Investigation focusing on Marine Insurance Fraud, sponsored by the International Association of Arson Investigators; Has successfully completed CARGO SURVEYING covering Container Inspections, Hatch and Discharge Surveys, Cargo Damage Techniques and Mitigation of Damages as presented by the Maritime Bureau Inc. Has successfully completed the First Marine Small Power Watercraft seminar in Small Power Watercraft Damage and Claim Evaluation as presented by the First Marine Insurance Co.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick (NB) & educated in the Port City as well as in Halifax, Nova Scotia (NS), Canada, Bob has several decades of marine experience, in both power and sail, including multiple trans Atlantic and Caribbean passages aboard sailing vessels both as Captain and Mate. He has captained two races in the Caribbean 1500 competitions to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) finishing third place in his class on one occasion and first on another.
Bob is also a Trainer and Examiner for Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operators License, Canadian Government appointed Tonnage Measurer, a highly experienced Draught Surveyor and Graduate of the Chapman School of Seamanship.
